Enchantment on the Orient Express
Preparations are under way for the Flagler Health Care Foundation’s June 21 Gala VI, Enchantment on the Orient Express, at the Ginn Hammock Beach Resort located in Palm Coast.

The committee, chaired by Mr. and Mrs. Brendan O’Connell and Dr. and Mrs. William Platko, will take guests on an imaginary journey through Germany, Italy, France and England. Read more

Memorial Day jazz in the plaza

Jazz is alive and fairly well in St. Augustine. Memorial Day is one of the days when that becomes obvious. The St. Augustine Jazz Society traditionally sponsors a Memorial Day Jazz concert on the Plaza and this year it’s a great one. The concert opens with Bill Doyle Ensemble plus Cheryl Paige. This group of made up of local/area jazzers and is truly outstanding. Read more

Man found beaten in West Augustine

A suspect or suspects are being sought in connection with the beating of a 49-year old St. Johns County man found early this morning. The victim was found on the ground by a passerby at 6:30 a.m. near the area of W. King St. and S. St. Johns Ave. Read more

Hastings kidnapping and battery reported

A 58-year old Hastings man was arrested on charges of sexual battery, kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery this afternoon according to information received from Sgt. Chuck Mulligan with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, identified as Joseph M. Dennis, 58, 811 N. Main St., was located hiding at another residence in the 800 block of N. Main St. this afternoon and was questioned by Special Victims’ Unit Detectives. Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw tells Historic City News and Media that Dennis was then booked into the County Jail. Read more
