FHP Lieutenant Justin Asbury advised Historic City News reporters that the search for a woman, believed to be suicidal, who, according to a friend, was traveling from Orlando to New England by car, ended last night in St Johns County when troopers located her in the northbound rest area along I-95.
Last night, Orlando Police advised surrounding law enforcement agencies that a friend had spoken with 58-year-old Orlando resident, Patrice Thibodeau Cail, by cell phone. They believed that Cail left her home at 4630 S Kirkman Road heading for New England.
The friend was concerned for Cail’s welfare; informing police that Cail had been drinking, was armed with a weapon, and possibly suicidal. The informant provided the tag number and a description of the vehicle. Cail was said to be driving a beige-colored Mercury Mountaineer.
At approximately 8:38 pm, Trooper Neil Mariotti spotted a vehicle matching the description and he observed the driver as she entered the rest area in a reckless manner.
Cail parked in the handicap parking lot and exited the vehicle. When she did, Mariotti reported that he observed a beer can fall onto the ground and spill out. Mariotti placed the driver in protective custody until an investigation could be conducted.
Troopers Mariotti and Ron Roberts identified Cail and questioned her about her intentions. She did not indicate that she wished to hurt herself or that she was suicidal, according to the incident report.
Cail was placed under arrest for DUI and remains in jail this morning in lieu of $500 bail.
