32nd annual Seafood Festival this weekend

400-LIONS-Mar012013_5458On the first official day of the St Augustine Lions Seafood Festival, presented by Winn-Dixie, Historic City News reporters noticed a sea of activity as vendors and rides are still being setup at lunchtime.

According to an announcement on the event website, today’s hours are 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm. and the activities run through Sunday, March 3rd. Saturday features a full slate of festivities running from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, and Sunday hours 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Admission is just $2 per adult — kids 12 and under free.

“Caterers and chefs from around the Southeast will serve mouth-watering and award-winning seafood; featuring Cajun, Asian, Mediterranean, Maryland, Southwest and Deep South styles of cooking,” said Dominic Mercurio, Festival Chairman. “New for 2013, Stalvey’s Famous BBQ will be available for the non-seafood lovers.”

Headliner Kickin Grass is a CMA winner from Raleigh and is expected to get you out of the seat and toes a tapping. Some other area favorites playing are Lonesome Bert, Ancient City Slickers, Rotogeezer and Mixed Nuts. Emcees Cable Spence with Katherine Archer of the Saltwater Cowgirls will keep you laughing.

The event is being held at Francis Field located at 25 West Castillo Drive in downtown St Augustine.
