500-Ambassador-NPS-018The St Augustine 450th Youth Ambassadors reported to Historic City News that during this month’s meeting, founding leaders, Nancy Birchall and Jeani Taliaferro, were recognized for their commitment to inspiring the young people who volunteer in the community by St Augustine 450th Commemoration marketing strategist Charlie Seraphin.

Over twenty-six Ambassadors, identified by their official red shirts, emblazoned with the St Augustine 450th logo, attended the meeting that was held last week at the National Park Services headquarters.

The group is sponsored by the St Augustine Historical Society.

Park Ranger Amelia Mest was guest speaker for the evening. She presented a program about the history of our two national monuments and then explained about volunteer opportunities including summer camps and cannon firing to the Ambassadors.

Participants attend a number of St Johns County schools; including St Augustine High School, Bartram Trail, St Joseph Academy, Pedro Menendez, Nease, St John’s Academy, ABLE, Murray, Switzerland Point, and Fruit Cove Middle School.
