Robbery detectives at the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office have informed local Historic City News reporters that they are searching for a man who is believed to be white, approximately 5’11″ to 6’2″ tall, light brown hair, possibly in his late teens to mid-twenties, with a lean build. They say the man burglarized one convenience store and robbed another in the Ponte Vedra Beach area this weekend.
The initial incident occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 14th when a subject, dressed in all black, forced entry to the Gate Station located at 220 SR-A1A North in Ponte Vedra Beach.
A second incident occurred just after 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 15th at the Kangaroo located at Marlin Road and SR-A1A.
The clerk on duty at the Kangaroo told investigators that a man wearing a mask came into the store and demanded money from her. After he threatened the victim with a firearm, she says the robber fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Detectives believe both incidents are related.
Surveillance photographs from inside the store show the man wearing a mask; additional photographs from outside the Kangaroo reveal the man, unmasked, captured just prior to the robbery.
