400-SKEETER-KEY-FLAGLER-COLFlagler College’s Director of Academic Advising and Retention, Skeeter Key, told Historic City News reporters today that he is excited for the opportunity to do something most people would shy away from — kissing a pig at the Sunrise Rotary Club’s Rhythm ‘n’ Ribs Festival on April 6.

Key is one of the final candidates for the “Kiss the Pig” contest; an annual fundraiser for “Learn to Read of St Johns County”.

“As a school principal, I saw the need many times for parents of my students to learn to read, or to improve their reading,” Key told local reporters. “I would love for Flagler College to get involved so I can kiss the pig while we are raising money for this great organization.”

The Learn to Read program serves adults in St Johns County who are interested in improving their reading, writing and learning skills.

Votes for Key will be cast via donations — with one vote for every dollar donated.

Those wishing to donate can drop off their change to the bucket at Flagler’s Career Services department, or mail a check to “Learn to Read of St Johns County”, 70 South Dixie Highway, St Augustine, FL 32084.
