Those who chose St Augustine as their destination to ring in the New Year paid a premium for their choice; according to Miamihotels.org Press Officer, Diane Muller, in a survey reviewed by Historic City News this morning.
Minimum three-star hotels in twenty popular beach destinations in the Sunshine State were polled by the organization to determine the most affordable double room price for the New Year’s period spanning December 30th through January 1st.
St. Augustine was among the most expensive stays in Florida for New Year’s Eve, making it into the “top 10” with an average nightly double room costing $179.00 — up 50% over regular rates charged for the same room. The most expensive Florida destination was Key West, where hotel guests will have to spend $472 per night for the most affordable double room. That represents 161 percent more than they would regularly have to pay, according to the survey.
