Historic City News is joining with the local government advocacy group, “Keep It Local Florida”, in recognizing this Friday, September 6th, as “Local Works Day”; enforcing the message that local government workers help form the fabric of our communities.
To us, “local” means having roots in our community. Local government workers are our neighbors, our friends, our family members, and we know them by name.
Local means familiarity, trust and commitment. Historic City News has been a solid supporter of keeping local government decisions in the hands of local elected officials who are accountable to the community. Government closest to the people governs best.
So, the members of the Florida Local Government Coalition and Historic City News ask you to thank a fireman, a policeman, a public utility worker, any one of a thousand civil servants this Friday. They help keep us safe and they contribute to our quality of life.
