Light Station belongs to Lighthouse Museum

400-LIGHTHOUSEToday is a BIG day in the history of the St Augustine Lighthouse and Museum, Director Kathy Fleming and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Theresa Floyd told local Historic City News reporters.

In an agreement negotiated with St Johns County, the property on which one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and attractions is built, has been purchased by the non-profit entity that has been its steward for decades.

“We officially closed on the Light Station property purchase from St. Johns County,” Fleming told Historic City News editor Michael Gold this afternoon. “With this big step, our museum will now have more opportunities to discover, preserve, present and keep alive the story of our Nation’s Oldest Port.”

Financing provided by Harbor Bank and contributions of money and time by the benevolent supporters of the working St. Augustine Lighthouse, and its staff, made this momentous day a reality.

Action Title handled the closing for the long awaited transaction.
