Woman struck and killed as she left The Standard

300-RED-BLUE-LIGHTGrace Janice Wieczorek[/caption]St Augustine police updated Historic City News today concerning the traffic homicide that occurred at 200 Anastasia Boulevard Saturday night, March 1, involving a 2007 Gray Honda Mini-Van and a pedestrian leaving The Standard night club.

Police, Fire and Rescue units responded to the scene; including emergency medical personnel who found the body of 45-year-old Grace Janice Wieczorek, who resided at 1308 Parkside Drive in Ormond Beach, lying in the roadway.

Wieczorek was stabilized at the scene and transported to Flagler Hospital St Augustine where she was pronounced dead by physicians attending her injuries. Her family has been informed of the fatality.

According to witnesses and evidence collected at the scene, the victim was attempting to cross all lanes of Anastasia Boulevard on foot when she stumbled in front of the mini-van, driven by 63-year-old Karen N. Buck, who resides on Tavistock Drive in St Augustine.

Police tell local reporters that Buck pulled over and remained with her vehicle until police arrived. The driver reportedly has been cooperating with the police investigation and voluntarily gave a sample for blood-alcohol analysis.

The van was towed to the St Augustine Police impound yard for further investigation.
