Traffic stop leads to trafficking charges

A Thursday afternoon traffic stop by Deputy Sheriff Ryan J. Smith quickly escalated into two felony and two misdemeanor arrests when it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle was in possession of marijuana and a large amount of cocaine, according to a report filed with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

Historic City Media verified that Grady Ja’Vonne Smith is still in custody tonight in lieu of $50,900.00 bail on charges of driving while license canceled suspended or revoked, possession of cannabis - less than 20 grams, manufacturing or delivery of drug paraphernalia and trafficking in cocaine. Arrest linked to eighteen car burglaries

An 18-year old Duval County man was arrested on one count each of burglary to a vehicle and grand theft this morning and is allegedly involved in at least 17 additional car burglaries that occurred earlier this week in the northwest part of the county. Read more

WFOY commentator: fugitive from justice

51 year old Richard Lester Senninger was arrested yesterday and booked in the St. Johns County jail — facing charges that he is a fugitive from justice in Michigan for larceny and theft.

Senninger is better known as “Rick Wright”, a conservative political commentator who features several regular contributors on the program “Outside the Wire” on WFOY 1240 radio in St. Augustine. Read more

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, Special Investigations Unit, conducted a reverse prostitution operation Tuesday morning, which resulted in the arrests of seven St. Johns County men according to a press release from Media Resource Officer Kevin Kelshaw.

“Operation Betty Crocker” was initiated after reports were received that alleged prostitution activities were occurring near a West Augustine neighborhood. Read more

Abduction victim found near Flagler Estates

Violent Crimes Unit Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the beating of a 26-year old man that occurred over the weekend according to a media advisory received by Historic City Media this evening.

According to the report released by Media Resource Officer Kevin Kelshaw, the investigation began at 7:15 a.m. this morning when the male victim was observed walking out of the woods in the area of Kirchherr Ave., and Guy St., in Flagler Estates. Read more

Seventeen year old charged with sexual battery

In a report received by Historic City Media from Kevin Kelshaw, Media Resource Officer with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, we are informed that a 17-year old St. Johns County juvenile was arrested Thursday evening on charges that he committed sexual battery on a person under 12 years of age and that he committed a lewd and lascivious act on a person under the age of 16.
