Transient arrested again – this time for felonies

A 27-year old transient was arrested on several charges this morning after being released from jail on unrelated charges according to a report received by Historic City News today.

Property Crimes Unit Detective Graham Harris arrested the suspect, identified as Deward Lynn White, 27, no address, on charges of burglary to a conveyance, larceny and illegal use of a credit card today.

White was arrested on February 7th for retail theft and was released this morning after serving his sentence.

He was also arrested on January 19th by St. Augustine Police for loitering and prowling and was released three days later after serving his sentence.

Detective Harris was investigating the burglary of two vehicles at a residence in the 500 block of Ruba Rd. on February 6th. Each of the two vehicles were entered through unlocked doors.

Reported stolen was a laptop computer, two Ipods, and two wallets with assorted credit and ID cards.

The victim discovered that one of his credit cards was used at Wal-Mart later that morning and the suspect returned in the afternoon to the store, however, the second transaction was declined.

After looking at video from the store of the first transaction yesterday, the deputy recognized the suspect wearing the same clothing walking on Ponce Deleon Blvd. this morning and brought him in for questioning.

The suspect admitted to the burglary and he was booked into the County Jail where he remains held without bond pending a first appearance hearing Wednesday morning.
