Adult and youth activities and athletic programs

Troy Blevins, St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Director, reported to Historic City News that although summer is coming to a close, there are still many activities for the remainder of August and September — including popular after school programming.

Youth Programs:

Ketterlinus After School Program: Registration for the Ketterlinus 2010/2011 After School year will be Thursday, August 19th, at 8:00 a.m. at Ketterlinus gym. Registration is first come first serve, please be advised that a $40 per child deposit will be required at registration.

Ketterlinus Morning Care: Registration for the Morning Care program is Thursday, August 19th at Ketterlinus Gym. This program will run from 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday when school is in session. The price is $200 per child and a $25 deposit per child is required.

Hastings After School Program: Registration for the
W.E. Harris Community Center After School program will begin August 16th. Please contact Tanya Jackson at (904) 692-3655 for information about this program.

Youth Athletics:

Please visit our youth activities website at www.sjcfl.us/recreation for information about how to register for upcoming sport leagues with the Recreation & Parks Department Athletic Association Partners. They offer many athletic options for kids including baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, football, and much more.

Adult Activities:

Women’s Indoor Volleyball: Open Gym September 7th and 14th. Cost: $270 per team (6 persons).

Men’s Indoor Volleyball: Open Gym September 9th and 16th. Cost: $240 per team (4 persons).

Horseshoes: Open Courts September 15th and 22nd. $20.00 per person person sign up fee and $5.00 per week tournament fee.

Cornhole: Open Courts September 13th and 20th. $20.00 per person person sign up fee and $5.00 per week tournament fee.
