Police say man intended to sell pot

Public Information Officer Mark Samson reported to Historic City News that the St. Augustine Police Department was called at about 1:00 a.m. yesterday morning to disperse a crowd that was growing at Denny’s located at 1300 Ponce de Leon Boulevard.

Upon arrival, Corporal Tim Bryan observed a white Chevy SUV with a tail light out. As the vehicle left the parking lot, Bryan noticed that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, identified as 26 year-old Henry Darnell Reese, was removed from the car.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 16 individually packaged baggies of Marijuana. Reese, who resides at 310 Ravenswood Drive in Saint Augustine, was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to sell.

Reese was released yesterday after posting a $5000.00 appearance bond at the St. Johns County Detention Facility.

In other activity Sunday, officers with the St. Augustine Police Department issued a total of 12 Uniform Traffic Citations, 3 written warnings and 2 city ordinance violations on May 15, 2011.
