White House correspondent addresses Flagler

Brian Thompson, Director of Public Information and Flagler College Magazine Editor reported to Historic City News that award-winning White House correspondent Margaret Talev will speak at the Flagler College Forum on Government and Public Policy in St. Augustine on November 3rd.

Talev’s topic will be “Hitting the Ceiling: The Economy and the 2012 Election” and will be presented at 7:00 p.m. in the Flagler College Auditorium located at 14 Granada Street.

Talev is a White House correspondent for Bloomberg News. She began her career at the Tampa Tribune and later covered state government and politics from Tallahassee. At the Los Angeles Times, she was on a team of journalists whose coverage of the crash of Alaska Airlines Flight 261 off the California coast was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 2001.

At the Sacramento Bee, she covered the 2003 California recall of Gov. Gray Davis and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first year in office. In Washington, she covered Congress, Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign and the White House for McClatchy Newspapers before joining Bloomberg. Talev is a graduate of the University of Maryland in College Park.

For more than 30 years, the Flagler College Forum on Government and Public Policy has invited nationally recognized journalists and commentators to St. Augustine to discuss issues of importance in regional, state and federal government.
