Castillo celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Historic City News readers are invited to attend without charge and participate in a celebration of our Colonial Spanish heritage when the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument hosts a 1740′ Spanish Living History Day on Saturday, September 29.

All 1740 Spanish interpretations are welcome to participate in cannon firings, military drill, and marching demonstrations.

Jake Harper will be coordinating re-enactors; who are being asked to contact him, in advance, for planning purposes. Harper can be reached by e-mail at jake_harper@nps.gov

Spanish Living History Day, a National Public Lands Day, will feature period soldiers, sailors, civilians, women and children who will come out to celebrate St Augustine’s significant Hispanic heritage from as many perspectives as possible.
