Funeral services were held at Trinity Episcopal Parish in St Augustine yesterday afternoon for 64 year-old Fred Henry Bozard III, who died at his home on Saturday, April 21, following a long illness.
Bozard grew up in St Augustine and was a lifelong member of Trinity Parish, the church attended by his parents. Fred was a graduate of St Augustine High School and was a National Merit Scholar. For thirty years, beginning in the late 1970’s, he was the second generation to own and operate Bozard Ford; the business opened by his father in 1949.
Bozard served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War as a corpsman on board the USS Saratoga. After being honorably discharged, he continued his education at the University of Florida; graduating in 1973.
He was an avid reader and believed in the importance of education. He believed in the vision of Flagler College and its importance in our community, supporting the school in many ways over the years.
Fred was a Master Mason and member of Ashlar Lodge #98, Free and Accepted Masons.
Bozard served on the Board of Directors of Prosperity Bank and the St Augustine Rod and Gun Club. He served the community as President of the Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Kiwanis Club of St Augustine.
He is survived by his mother, Josephine McRae Bozard, son Bo (Stephanie) Bozard, daughter Letti Bozard and two granddaughters, Grace and Sarah. His family is sincerely grateful for the loving care he received from his caregivers from Home Instead and especially his longtime friend, Wayne Reyes.
Craig Funeral Home Crematory and Memorial Park was in charge of the arrangements.
