St Augustine VCB attracts Brazilian travelers

Evelyn Vazquez, leisure sales director for St Augustine, Ponte Vedra and the Beaches Visitor Convention Bureau, told Historic City News reporters that she has just returned from the “Visit Florida” sponsored sales mission to Brazil.

Vazquez reported that she had the opportunity to represent Florida’s Historic Coast to hundreds of Brazilian travel agents. Of the 14 destinations and hotels represented at the event, ours was the only one with a promotional video in Portuguese.

Vazquez added that many travel agents were intrigued with the fact that both St Augustine and Rio de Janeiro were founded in 1565.

“When I asked how many people in the audience had visited us, only three hands went up,” Vazquez said. “After the video, I asked how many would like to visit us, every hand went up quickly.”

She said that once Brazilians found out about us, they were anxious to visit.
