Holiday excitement at the St Augustine Winter Spectacular

400-STEPHANIE-BURKHARDTExecutive Artistic Director, Stephanie Burkhardt, has invited Historic City News readers to experience the magic and excitement of the holidays when The Dance Company presents the St Augustine Winter Spectacular during its debut over Thanksgiving weekend.

The original production, written and directed by Burkhardt, tells the story of a young girl’s journey home for the holidays. The show promises to help kick-off the holiday season in the nation’s oldest city by providing high-quality, family entertainment during a weekend with family and friends.

“Brittany Marcin, an alumna of The Dance Company and former Radio City Rockette currently performing on Broadway, choreographed a Broadway-style jazz number featuring high-kick dancers for the production,” Burkhardt told local reporters. “Carey Stomkin, former choreographer for the Hungarian National Dance Academy and instructor for the Brooklyn Ballet, choreographed a pointe piece for the advanced ballet students set to traditional holiday music.”

Scenes will feature new and familiar characters within a variety of genres including ballet, tap, jazz, modern, acrobatics, kickline, and musical theatre numbers.

Two performances of the St Augustine Winter Spectacular will be held in the Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College, located at 14 Granada Street, on Saturday, November 30 at 7:00pm and on Sunday, December 1 at 2:00pm, in downtown St Augustine. The event website, www.staugustinewinterspectacular.com, will be available soon for ticket purchase.
