Man found on lawn at National Monument this morning

275-SAPD-PATCHSt Augustine Police Department Investigations Supervisor, Sergeant Jason Etheredge, reported to Historic City News that the body of a 50-year-old man believed to be homeless was discovered this morning on the fort green at Castillo de San Marcos National Monument.

The initial investigation has revealed that the man’s name was David W. Kennedy, born 06/02/1965.

“According to the information available at this time, Kennedy appears to have died of natural causes,” Etheredge told local reporters. “We have just completed notification of the Kennedy family.”

The last known address for Kennedy was 243 Circle Drive East, in Saint Augustine. He previously lived in Ocala and Pensacola. It is not known if he was employed.
