Recently, the County Commission reviewed a possible extension of the contract of County Attorney Pat McCormack. There was no consensus for a full five year extension and the decision at that time was to reevaluate in six months.

The 500th anniversary of Ponce de Leon’s naming of Florida will be celebrated next week in several locations. I will be attending the unveiling of a new bronze statue at the Guana Tolomato Matanzas Reserve on Tuesday, April 2.
Laurie Sanderson reported the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations to Historic City News where the Florida Department of Transportation will be conducting roadwork that is expected to have an impact on driving, beginning this morning and continuing through the coming week.
City Clerk Alison Ratkovic notified Historic City News that a special meeting of the St Augustine City Commission will convene at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, April 1 in the Alcazar Room at City Hall, for the purpose of discussing litigation in the matter of Wendler vs City of St Augustine — the discussion during the meeting will not be open to the public.
William W. Browning, born October 23, 1957, is serving a 150-year prison sentence for the second-degree beating and stabbing death of 44-year-old state social worker supervisor Judson Clements; but today, he is in the custody of the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office and was formally charged with a second murder that occurred in 1981.
The St Augustine Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron reported to Historic City News that their Commander, Ralph Aviles, was recently promoted to the rank of Major by Civil Air Patrol Group Two Commander, Lt. Col. Christopher Duemmel, during ceremonies held at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport Conference Center.
