The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission informed local Historic City News reporters that a public hearing would be held in St Augustine on September 27 to present the 10-year draft Land Management Plan for Guana River Wildlife Management Area.

Historic City News was informed that St Augustine resident Jazmine Dean took first place in the Women’s Long Board Division at the 2012 Eastern Surfing Championship in Nags Head, on North Carolina’s Outer Banks yesterday.
Final budget hearing postponed
Historic City News has learned that the final public hearing on the St Johns County Fiscal 2013 budget and millage originally scheduled for yesterday has been rescheduled for Tuesday September 25 at 5:30 p.m. in the St Johns County Auditorium.

Committee advances 450th military learning
Colonel Ron Radford, USAF (Ret), has informed Historic City News reporters that in order to establish St Augustine as the premier destination for learning about the vital role of the military in our city, our state, and our nation, it will be necessary to communicate a “systematic and consistent message of our history”.
CODE RED – 2-year-old child missing
Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Chuck Mulligan informed Historic City News that he is enroute to the scene where a 2-year-old boy has gone missing from his home in the area of Linda Lake Lane, near CR 210.
Amendment 4 is bad for St Johns County
Generally, I oppose Constitutional Amendments on principle — especially amendments sponsored by the legislature rather than by referendum from the people; so, I am not surprised that I find myself in opposition of proposed Amendment 4 to the Florida Constitution.
