Dear Historic City News readers:
Although I did not have an opponent in this year’s election, I wanted to take a moment to thank not only the St Johns County voters, but also the folks behind the scenes who help make the election process go smoothly.
Florida Highway Patrol Director Colonel David Brierton reported to Historic City News in St Augustine that St Johns County and Troop G would participate in the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign beginning tomorrow through September 3.
A break in an 8-inch water main caused the St Johns County Utility Department to issue a precautionary boil water advisory for St Augustine Shores, according to an announcement received by Historic City News.
All of St Johns County’s five constitutional officers were re-elected for another four-year term, without opposition; however, here, and elsewhere around Florida, that was not necessarily the case as an “anti-incumbent” movement has some political consultants scratching their heads.

Dear St Johns County voters:
I would like to thank John Ruggeri and Ray Quinn for dedicating their time and effort to the people of this county. They are both great men whom I respect and admire.
In races for St Johns County commission seats, Historic City News backed, recommended and endorsed each of the three successful candidates for Board of County Commissioners, at least two of which bucked the incumbent or their intended successor.
Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes reported to Historic City News this morning that there will be no re-counts from yesterday’s Primary Election, calling all of the decisions published on her website reliable.
District 23 Medical Examiner, Dr. Predag Bulic announced to Historic City News reporters and law enforcement agencies his preliminary findings in the death of three family members discovered by deputies inside their home yesterday afternoon.
