Samuel Cywiak,91, who has served the Congregation Sons of Israel in St Augustine since 1992, has announced his retirement. Rabbi Cywiak who was born in Poland, immigrated to the United States 1n 1947. After serving congregations in Kentucky and New Jersey, he relocated to Caracas, Venezuela where he served as the principal rabbi to the Jewish community there. After 32 years in Caracas, he returned to the United States and resumed his rabbinical work with a congregation in St. Augustine.To help celebrate and raise funds for his retirement, Actors with a Cause will present Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, directed by award-winning playwright Lorraine Portman. Tickets for the performances, the proceeds of which will enhance Rabbi Samuel Cywiak’s Retirement Fund can be purchased by calling 386-313-1792. Seating is limited. All tickets are $25.
