The Florida Agricultural Museum reported that they will present the 5th annual “Old Florida Festival” on April 2nd and 3rd from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The event features re-enactors presenting living history encampments from various periods of Florida’s past.
These include Timucuans (the Native Americans indigenous to northeast Florida at the time of European contact), 16th century Spaniards, Seminoles, the British East Florida militia, William Bartram, free Blacks of colonial eras, 18th century shipwreck victims, Civil War troops of the
Northern and Southern armies, Cow Hunters, Moonshiners, and women of the rural South.
Admission is $8 per person, $6 for Museum members; children under five are free of charge.
The event takes place along a trail approximately 1 mile in length so sensible clothing and walking shoes are recommended.
Transportation will be provided for folks with mobility issues.
Historic arts and crafts demonstrations will be presented. Other recreational activities and food will also be available. The event promises to be a fun and educational experience suitable for the entire family.
The Florida Agricultural Museum is located at 7900 Old Kings Road in Palm Coast. The museum entrance is on Old Kings Road just east of the intersection of Highway US-1 and Old Kings Road; in northern Flagler County. They are located 1 mile south on US-1 from exit 298 of I-95 and 15 miles south of St. Augustine along US-1.
