Historic City News learned that the Letter Carrier Food Drive is the largest one day food drive in the nation, according to a report from Nancy Burns with United Way of St. Johns County.
This year’s charitable drive is the 19th Annual event sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers, in conjunction with the U.S. Postal Service, the Rural Letter Carriers Association, the AFL-CIO, and United Way of St. Johns County.
Your letter carrier will be collecting non-perishable food items on Saturday, May14th, specifically for distribution to local food banks in St. Johns County. Local residents generously donated 81,225 lbs. of food in St. Johns County; which was a record amount.
“Please place a food donation by your mailbox on Saturday May14th,” Burns asked Historic City News readers who live in St. Johns County. “Your letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to a St. Johns County food bank.”
For more information or if you would like to volunteer, please call Nancy Burns at United Way (904) 829-9721.
