When the St. Augustine Tea Party holds their regular meeting on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, Historic City News reporters will be on hand to welcome the special guest of honor and American patriot; Patrick Henry.
Patti Henderson reported that all Historic City News readers are invited for the “meet and greet” starting at 6:30 p.m., and to stay for the meeting which will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Inn located at 900 Ponce de Leon Boulevard in St. Augustine.
The role of Patrick Henry will be re-enacted by St. Johns County Assistant Administrator Jerry Cameron, who has always been an outspoken proponent of American principles and has spent a considerable portion of his life studying the foundation of our Country.
Cameron admired Patrick Henry as a gifted orator who operated from bedrock principles.
Cameron told Historic City News that he studied Henry intensely for two years prior to re-enacting Henry’s famous 1775 speech, “I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death.”
Cameron’s research included extensive reading of archaic documents and travel to the places in Virginia where Patrick Henry lived, worked and served his Country.
