Bridge of Lions closed to replace markings

Gina Busscher told Historic City News reporters that the Bridge of Lions on State Road A1A in St. Augustine is scheduled to be closed to all traffic Tuesday night (October 4) beginning at 10:00 p.m. and reopening by 4:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The closure will allow contract crews to finish work that was begun last week — removing the painted roadway markings then replacing them with a high-performance tape.

Equipment problems last Thursday night and early Friday morning kept the work from being completed.

In the event of rain Tuesday, the work will be postponed.

Traffic will be detoured to the SR-312 Bridge during the closure.
