Anastasia Island and Its Special Birds: “Birds of the Shore”
Saturday, November 5 @ 2 pm – Join us for a very special presentation by Monique Borboen, the Audubon Society’s Science and Policy Associate for northeast Florida. Ms. Borboen will discuss the unique variety of birds of the shore found along Anastasia Island’s miles of ocean facing beach, two inlets and the salt marshes along the Matanzas River. Learn about the birds that make our island special, how to recognize them, their life cycles, and what you can do to help protect them. Seating is limited to the first 60 persons to arrive.

Writing on Contract: “Ghostwriting Up Close”

Tuesdays, November 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29 @ 11 am – Family Storytime is aimed at children 16 months-5 years and their families, though no child will be turned away! Families with a baby and older siblings are encouraged to come to Family Storytime.
After-School Crafts with Teens
Wednesday, November 2 @ 4-5 pm – All K-5th graders are invited to make fun crafts with the teens of Nease High School’s Arts in Motion Club in our library’s Small Conference Room! All materials are provided, no registration needed, and it’s FREE!
Teens Read With Kids
Saturday, November 5 @ 10 am-12 pm – Drop into the children’s department to read to or be read to by a teen! The teens of Ponte Vedra High School’s Book Club would love to share a book or more with you! All ages of children are welcome.
Family Storytime: “Bed-Head Storytime”
Tuesday, November 8 @ 11 am – Give your hairbrush a break! Children aged 16 months through 5 years and their families are invited to wear their pajamas for a special Bed-Head Storytime! No advanced preparation needed. Everyone is invited to attend in their jammies and robes, slippers, etc., as we all enjoy some relaxing bed-time sleepy stories.
Lego Club for Tweens
Wednesday, November 9 from 4-5 pm – Come out and bring your friends for an afternoon of fun building with Legos and hanging out at the library. This Club will meet once a month through December, on the second Wednesday of each month, in the Small Conference Room. No registration and it’s free!
National Gaming Day 2011
Saturday, November 12 All Day – The whole family is invited to celebrate National Gaming Day 2011 with board games for all ages! Throughout the library, you can sit down at tables and enjoy games such as Connect 4, Monopoly, Uno, Sorry, and many more! Drop in anytime today during our open hours (10 am to 5 pm) and play board games with your family or friends and check out your favorite books, movies, and CDs.
Just for Babies Storytimes
Tuesday, November 15 @ 10:15 am – Just for Babies storytime is geared toward babies birth-15 months and their caregivers. This infant lapsit is designed for one-on-one interaction between caregiver and baby.
Adventures in Art
Tuesday, November 15 @6:30 pm – Join the Cummer Museum’s Director of Education, Susan Gallo, for a presentation of “Exotic Streets of North Africa as seen through French Artist Eugene Charvot’s Paintings, Prints, and Drawings.” Sponsored by FOCUS Cummer and the Friends of the Library.
Teen Gaming Night
Monday, November 28 @ 5-7 pm – Relax and have fun with your friends at the library and play our Nintendo Wii, two X-Box 360s, and Playstation 3 set up on three TVs and a big screen for simultaneous playing! We have many new games including Little Big Planet 2, Karaoke Revolution: Glee, Just Dance
