Historic City News Latin-American reporter Raphael Cosme checked in at one the featured Romanza events held at the Fountain of Youth yesterday; as authentic costume, ethnic food, family fun, Latin beauty and the sounds of Salsa and Meringue infused the participants on the dance floor.
Besides the opportunity to mug with Miss Mundo Latina, Chrisally Espinal, and the Latin Beauty Queens, Cosme managed to pull himself away long enough to take a few photos of “Latin Beauty and Music” for our readers.
Historic City News was a media sponsor for the weeklong series of cultural offerings from some of St Augustine’s most talented performers and artisans. “When I lived in Charleston, I always attended the Spoleto Festival,” said HCN Editor Michael Gold about the event that is the model for Romanza in St Johns County. “The 36th Annual Spoleto Festival begins this Friday and will showcase nationally and internationally acclaimed artists in a distinctive program of opera, theater, dance, physical theater, music, and visual arts.”
Also participating in the festive entertainment happening between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. yesterday, was the Hispanic American Youth Group Deltona; who have been selected to perform before the Queen and King of Spain in the 500th Anniversary celebration of the discovery of Florida by Juan Ponce de Leon.
