The Dollar General Literacy Foundation announced today that it has awarded a $2,000 Summer Reading Grant to St Johns County Education Foundation, Inc in St Augustine as part of more than $6.4 million given by the organization to support literacy across the United States.
In order to qualify for a grant, a local nonprofit organization or library must apply for help with the implementation or expansion of summer reading programs. Eligible programs must target Pre-K through 12th grade students who are new readers, below grade level readers, or readers with learning disabilities.
“The Dollar General Literacy Foundation appreciates the work St Johns County Education Foundation is doing to help students improve their literacy skills over the summer,” said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General’s chairman and CEO. “Summer reading helps children continue their education while discovering the joy of reading.”
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awards grants to organizations in communities where its customers, employees and their families live and work.
