Beach cleanup this evening

Keepers of the Coast, a local non-profit dedicated to promoting coastal stewardship and the conservation of coastal habitat, are recruiting volunteers for the 4th Annual “Day After” Beach Clean-Up on Thursday, July 5th.

The purpose of the cleanup is to restore the coastline following the impacts from July 4th, traditionally one of the busiest beach traffic days of the year.

This community-wide effort will be held the afternoon of Thursday, July 5th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at five different beach access points throughout St. Johns County:

• Vilano Beach Access Ramp
• A-Street Beach Access Ramp
• St Augustine Beach Pier
• Mickler’s Beachfront Park in Ponte Vedra Beach
• Crescent Beachfront Park

This clean-up will be the second in the Summer Daze Beach Clean-Up Series. Two other clean-ups will take place at the Jacksonville Beach Pier on July 13th and 20th.

First 50 participants will receive a custom Volcom / Keepers of the Coast koozie. Volcom will award the volunteer with the most trash collected a Volcom Prize Pack.

Continue to keep the right butts on the beach by winning the cigarette butt challenge at the 4th Annual July 5th Beach Cleanup. The volunteer to collect the most cigarette butts will win a pair of Electric Sunglasses.

No pre-registration is required and volunteers may show up at any of the locations. All participants will be given a bag for trash, a bag for recycling, and a bag for cigarette butts.

Keepers of the Coast are proud to announce that Volcom, Scenic A1A, The Bailey Group, the Ancient City Road Runners, and the Mulligan & Kauttu Law Firm have committed to adopting clean-up sites.

SweetWater will be hosting an after-party, details to be provided at each of the clean-up sites.
