Gwendolyn Duncan, President of the 40th ACCORD, Inc., informed Historic City News that there will be a memorial celebration in Lauderhill Lakes for the life of Athea W Hayling, who passed away on September 30.
Athea Hayling was born on December 3, 1928; she was a generous mother, supportive sister, caring daughter, and an inspiring teacher. She was the devoted wife of Dr Robert B Hayling, a leader in the St Augustine Civil Rights Movement.
Athea is much loved and will always be remembered by her friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the church. A repast, in the Church Hall, will immediately follow the memorial service.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 10:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of Atonement; located at 4401 West Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderhill Lakes, FL 33313.
Condolences and cards may be sent to Dr Hayling’s home at 4351 NW 15th Street, Lauderhill, FL 33313. You may call and leave a message for Dr. Hayling and his family, at (954) 735-9559. Dr. Hayling wants everyone to know that all messages will be acknowledged at a later date.
