Linda Arnold invited Historic City News readers to participate in a celebration of coastal living during the “Dressing of the Palms” at Vilano Beach Town Center where your creativity will make the community a holiday destination.
For a $25 entry fee, your businesses, schools, community groups, artists and individuals can adopt and decorate a palm tree along Vilano Road and compete for cash prizes.
“Your tree will be a magnificent contribution to our community,” Arnold told Historic City News. “This will be a fun opportunity to showcase your talents and beautify our Town Center for the holidays.”
Decorating begins at Noon on Saturday, November 10 with judging at 5:30 p.m. Trees will stay decorated until January 31.
Your general design is only limited by your imagination; but must be submitted to the Committee for approval, must be weatherproof, and appropriate.
If your palm tree is judged among the best, your entry can win:
• First Place $300
• Second Place $150
• Third Place $75
No palm will be harmed, permanently colored or changed with décor. No nails, screws or intrusive hangers — you must tie or wrap, no glue, no paint-no permanent markings of any kind. Electricity is not available, so any lighting will need to be solar or battery powered.
