La Compañía de Juan Ponce de León (The Company of Juan Ponce de León) reported to local Historic City News reporters in St. Augustine that their organization will host classes on the basic, research-based, historically accurate, early 16th-century garb and personal gear that will be required of members of their group.
On Saturday, July 17th, from 9:00 a.m. until noon, the seminar – “What to Bring with You on Your Voyage to the New World” – will be the first in a series in our Colegio de Juan Ponce de León (College of Juan Ponce de León), designed to help get volunteers accurately kitted out and prepared for the proposed April 2011 “First Landing” re-enactment and Florida’s 500th anniversary observances in 2013.
Classes for these heritage events will be held at Government House, seat of the royal governors of Florida, in the Sala de Montiano; located at 48 King Street on the Plaza de Constitución.
Participation in these classes and the class materials will be limited solely to paid members of La Compañía de Juan Ponce de León.
