Tri-Talent Musical Theater Class provides children, ages 9-14, with a well-rounded training with which to insure their best chance of success as they enter into the amazing world of musical theater. This program will focus on acting, movement, and choral singing for the music theater stage, enabling students to improve their performance skills.
Lindsay Gray, the instructor, majored in theater and minored in dance at Northwestern State University, where she also taught children dance in an after school program. She took private singing lessons at Centenary College, in Shreveport. She was employed one summer teaching Children’s Theater and Improv at Medomak Family Camp in Washington, Maine. She has performed roles in too many productions to mention spanning high school, college, and Community Theater.
Each one hour fast-paced class will be divided as follows:
§ Rotation 1: Acting – 30 minutes
§ Rotation 2: Dance/movement – 15 minutes
§ Rotation 3: Choir – 15 minutes
Each student will acquire a notebook, and each week will receive a new lesson from Lindsay Gray specifically tailored to the needs of the class. By summer, each student will have an expanding notebook as reinforcement for their valuable training which is known as “Triple Threat” in Musical Theater circles, namely students who can act, dance and sing.
Terry Herbert, Coordinator of Tri-Talent Musical Theater Class, is both a screenwriter and playwright, who received a rare Recommend from one of the top script consultants in Hollywood. He is involved in a rewrite for a film project which has received interest from South African investors.
Herbert has written lyrics for twenty children’s songs and melodies for nine others. His three feature length musicals display certain traditional elements of classic Broadway children’s musicals and will be a resource for this class.
His Agent, Kathy Garner, has represented many children in movies, including Mason Gamble, who played “Dennis, The Menace”, and all the children in the 1993 film also starring Christopher Lloyd, Matt Brennau, and Leah Thompson.
