Two congressional resolutions were passed this evening, with support from St Johns County’s Representative Ron DeSantis (FL-06), regarding the illicit targeting of conservative groups by the Internal Revenue Service; this according to an update from the congressman forwarded to Historic City News in St Augustine.
The first, a resolution to hold former IRS official, Lois Lerner, in contempt of Congress for her obstruction of inquiries into the scandal; and, the second, calling on Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate.
“Lois Lerner has obstructed Congressional inquiries into her role in this abuse of her office,” DeSantis told local reporters. “I fully support holding her in contempt of Congress for her refusal to answer questions surrounding the malfeasance of the IRS.”
After a year’s worth of investigation into abuses against conservative groups by the Internal Revenue Service, DeSantis says the Department of Justice has produced zero results.
“The appointment of a special prosecutor is long overdue,” DeSantis said.
