Velo Fest 3-Day Bicycle Festival begins tomorrow

Director Heather Neville has informed local Historic City News reporters that tomorrow begins the third annual Velo Fest, with events planned for May 9th, 10th, and 11th.

The festival is the largest education and awareness project that Velo Fest Community Initiative accomplishes each year. The Schedule of events includes links to the various registration pages.

“It is hard to believe we are already at our 3rd annual festival,” Neville told reporters today. “With an anticipated 1000 registered riders between our 4 athletic events, and nearly 3000 spectators, we are looking forward to another successful event.”

Neville extended her invitation to all Historic City News readers to come out and ride, race, watch, velo-teer, and join us at our first ever “Brews & Bikes Benefit” thanks to New Belgium Beer and Mojo’s Bar-B-Q located on Cordova Street, south of Orange Street.

As part of National Bike Month, we have several other events this month including Bike Valet for Jack Johnson and piloting the Bike Rodeo program at Ketterlinus Elementary School. You can learn more about our many projects and events at our website.

There will also be a free, family friendly Bicycle Parade that begins at 5:30 p.m.at the Historic Downtown Parking Facility and ends at Flagler College.
