Last month Historic City News readers missed a face that had started their day for the last 20 years when Eric Land, president and general manager of First Coast News, announced that Good Morning Jacksonville news anchor Phil Amato had resigned.
Saying only that Amato had officially resigned his position on Monday, July 28, there have been a lot of questions about Cox stations WJXX TV-25 and WTLV TV-12 news programs that have undergone a major shakeup and reorganization of on-air personalities over the last six weeks.
So, what became of Amato? It seems that he decided it was time to take the opportunity to find a career where he didn’t have to wake up at 2:30 a.m. every day. Historic City News learned that Amato plans to start his own YouTube channel where he will post tips on home selling and show Jacksonville neighborhoods and their histories through short video clips. He also plans to post frequent video updates on his Facebook page. Amato says that having a normal schedule will give him more time to spend with his wife and two children.
“It is a great honor to welcome Phil to the family,” said Ed Forman, Watson Realty Corp. president. “His humble personality and experience as a real estate investor will make him a true asset in the Hodges office.”
Amato has over 10 years of experience as a licensed Realtor and real estate investor in Jacksonville, and he says that he will use his expertise shooting and editing high-quality video packages to market the homes he is selling.
“I know the city and the unique neighborhoods in Jacksonville and I have built a trust with the viewers and the community,” Amato said as he announced his new endeavor. “Every home has a story to tell, and I want to combine my abilities as a Realtor and journalist to market properties in a groundbreaking way.”
He told local reporters that he plans to treat this career like he did the last; by showing up on time, working hard and being professional.
