Historic City News has learned that a 27-year-old local man, already on probation for grand theft, was arrested again early yesterday morning by St Augustine Police after he reportedly stabbed a man three times with a knife outside a King Street bar.
Patrolman Austin Davis arrived at the Gigglin Gator located at 121 King Street in St Augustine just after 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning to find 5’9″, 160lb, Keith Randall Schenk had entered the bar and was visually intoxicated.
“Schenk intentionally violated the conditions of his probation; based on witness statements, surveillance video showing him inside the Gigglin Gator, and the odor of alcohol on his breath,” Officer Davis stated in his arrest report.
According to witness statements and evidence found and recovered from the scene, Schenk, whose last known address was reported as 905 Kennedy Drive, entered into an altercation with another patron — stabbing him three times with a knife, causing the victim great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement.
Davis arrested Schenk at the scene and delivered him to the St Johns County Detention Facility, where he was booked at 2:41 a.m. without incident. At his first appearance hearing, bond was set at $25,000 on the aggravated battery charge; a second-degree felony. However, there is no bond allowed before trial on the violation of probation or community control.
