Florida Pancreas Cancer Coalition donates $40,000

Over the past two years, spokesman Kevin Doyle informs Historic City News reporters that Florida Pancreas Cancer Coalition has raised nearly $70,000 — most recently donating $40,000 to the Mayo Clinic for local pancreatic cancer research.

The Florida Pancreas Cancer Coalition, Inc., represented by leaders Mary Jane Culhane and Anna Murphy, presented a local research donation check of $40,000 to doctors Michael Wallace and Nicole Murray on behalf of the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.

“Our team gathered to collectively present a check to Mayo Clinic that will be used in Pancreas Cancer Research in the amount of $40,000.00. In 2014, we donated $27,500 so we increased our donation by 46% this year compared to last year,” President Anna Murphy said. “Over the last two years, with an all-volunteer team, we have developed and hosted numerous events including two successful golf tournaments, a successful water balloon festival, and a symposium on pancreas cancer research.”

Spokesmen say that they have many future events planned, all in an effort to support pancreas cancer research, so, one day, we can find a cure to fight his deadly disease.

“We are excited to see the second of what we hope are many donations being used in this manner and are hopeful to continue to play a role in the fight against pancreas cancer,” said Murphy.
