In order to protect the safety of our employees and guests during Hurricane Matthew, Historic City News has closed our office in downtown St Augustine as of 3:00 p.m. today. We will remain closed at least until Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m.
Before the evacuation this afternoon, we secured all fixtures and equipment operated at that location. Being Internet based, much of the work done in the production of our weekday publication can be accomplished from anywhere where Internet access remains available.
As part of our strategic business plan, we have co-located our computer server to a highly secure and reliable off-site data center unaffected by tropical storms, hurricanes and flooding. In addition to physical security and environmental hardening, our Level 2 data center provides network security, intrusion detection, and firewall management. Although we will experience power and Internet outages locally, the power and Internet service in our data center will remain uninterrupted.
