At Monday evening’s City Commission meeting, commissioners will take up a request for an easement from the Florida Department of Transportation that was tabled at its last meeting.
The Mayor expressed frustration with the city’s inability to get a commitment from Florida Department of Transportation that the bridge replacement would not interfere with the three-year celebration being planned to start in 2013.
Mayor Boles said that he felt the Florida Department of Transportation had ignored the city on everything they’ve asked, so, he was reluctant to grant the easement agreement for the project to move forward. So, rather than approve or deny the request, the commissioners moved to table the matter.
Public Works Director Martha Graham said at the last meeting that Florida Department of Transportation “is trying to accelerate the project.”
The Florida Department of Transportation will make its case and outline its work schedule before the City Commission at their regular meeting — 5:00 p.m. Monday in the Alcazar Room at City Hall located at 75 King Street in St.Augustine.
