Old Florida Museum’s new digs

Since 1999, Charles, Karen and Sandy Ponce have operated the Old Florida Museum (originally known as Historic Villages of St. Augustine) at 254 San Marco Avenue in the location owned by TE-B-CO of St. Augustine; the Tebault family company that previously operated St. Augustine Trains.
Their attraction invited guests to explore Florida’s pre-European past when Timucuan Indians inhabited the region and to get a feeling for what it was actually like to live and work in those times. Read more
TDC Cat II Funding Workshops

Two workshops scheduled for April 28 and April 30, are being held by the SJC Tourist Development Council (TDC) to assist not-for-profit groups in applying for Category II funding support for special events.
Last year, the TDC awarded $508,000 in Category II funding. Read more

The last of the spring break crowd was treated to some beautiful summer like weather today and nobody wasted any time getting to the beach. Today’s high temperatures were in the 80’s and that means perfect conditions for fishing, skim boards and a weekend cookout St. Augustine style. Read more
Adams wins historic preservation award

Dr. Bill Adams has long been known in St. Augustine as a tireless advocate of historic preservation, and now those tireless efforts have been recognized by the Florida Department of State.
Florida’s Secretary of State Kurt S. Browning announced that Adams will be presented with the 2008 The Senator Bob Williams Award in acknowledgement for his extraordinary efforts and accomplishments in the field of historic preservation. The award was presented in a ceremony in Tallahassee on April 2 as part of Florida Heritage Month. Read more
