Jay Humphreys, Communications Director for the St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & The Beaches Visitors and Convention Bureau, reported to Historic City News this morning that The St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park has been named one of the Nation’s “Seven Summer Learning Wonders†by Sylvan Learning.
The annual listing is designed to give parents outstanding suggestions on seven summertime destinations where their children can have fun and educational experiences, according to Humphreys.
With nearly 1,200 centers nationwide, Sylvan Learning is the leading provider of in-center and live, online tutoring for students of all ages, grades, and skill levels. The Seven Wonders, as selected by Sylvan Learning, represent the best and brightest educational attractions in the United States. Each selection has a tie to school subjects such as science, history and technology, and also makes great back-to-school stories to share with classmates.
The St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park was selected for its unique showcase of alligators, crocodiles and other rare wildlife. For their visit, Sylvan Learning suggested that parents should “pick up a visitor’s guide and have your children choose a few exhibits from the descriptions. Ask them why they chose each and how it is different from others in the park.â€
The other six Summer Learning Wonders were: Seashore Trolley Museum, Kennebunkport, Maine; Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, Washington, D.C.; Purity Dairies Plant Tour, Nashville, Tennessee; Dinosaur Museum, Dickinson, North Dakota; Solo’s Restaurant, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and the Jelly Belly Candy Factory Tour, Fairfield, California.
