The St. Johns County Recreation and Parks Department reported to Historic City News that they have many exciting activities going on this season.:
Winter Wonderland
The 2nd annual Winter Wonderland opened Friday night at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, and this year is even bigger and better than last year. New additions include the 100-foot ice slide and carnival-style reindeer games. Visitors will also enjoy the outdoor skating rink where it “snows” twice per night, the expanded elf village, sleigh rides, vendor booths, s’mores and much more!
Phone Calls from Santa
The Recreation and Parks Department is once again partnering with the North Pole Telephone Company for the annual “Phone Calls from Santa” program. Parents with children under the age of eight who live in St. Johns County can sign up to have Santa call their child at home this Christmas. Sign-up forms are available on the website at www.sjcfl.us/youthactivities and can be submitted via email, fax or at the Recreation and Parks office at 2175 Mizell Road. Santa is busy making his list and checking it twice, so be sure to have the form turned in by 5:00 pm on Friday, December 12. For more information about Phone Calls from Santa, contact Youth Coordinator Jamie Baccari at (904) 209-0377.
Green Road Boat Ramp – Temporary Closure
The Green Road Boat Ramp will be closed beginning today though February for replacement of the boat ramp and replacement and extension of the dock. During the temporary closure the public is welcome to visit any of the other County boat ramps, with details under the Recreation and Parks Department at www.sjcfl.us.
Men’s Basketball and Flag Football
The Recreation and Parks Department is currently holding sign-ups for the 35-and-over men’s basketball and flag football leagues. Both seasons will begin the first week of December. For registration information, contact Allan Wages at (904) 209-0385.
