LIMELIGHT THEATRE: PERFECT WEDDING
Imagine waking up in the bridal suite next to a complete stranger! Perfect Wedding takes you on a hilarious journey leading up to an anything but perfect wedding day. The production opens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a ‘wedding reception’ complete with champagne and wedding cake. Performances continue Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and for the next three weeks Thursday – Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday Matinees at 2 p.m. General admission is $22 per person. UPTOWN SATURDAY NIGHT
Experience a favorite end-of-the-month event — Uptown Saturday Night! From 5 to 9 p.m. on this special evening, the galleries, antique stores and unique shops between Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum and the Mission of Nombre de Dios in St. Augustine’s Uptown San Marco Shopping District remain open. Meet-the-artists, book signings, live music, refreshments and other events contribute to the party-like atmosphere. FREE PARKING is available at the Mission of Nombre de Dios. The Dog Days of Summer, 2008 ART EXHIBITION
See pooch-inspired art that benefits Goliath and Bebe’s World, a dedicated no-kill, not-for-profit pet reserve and sanctuary in St. Augustine. More than 20 artists submitted their dog-inspired artwork for The Dog Days of Summer, 2008 exhibit. As part of Uptown Saturday Night, an opening reception from 5 to 9 p.m. will provide the public with an opportunity to meet the artists and admire their work. The Gallery will also be collecting dog food during the opening, as well as for the duration of the show. All of the collected dog food will be donated to Goliath & Bebe’s World. CHANGING OF THE GUARD
Witness twilight time in colonial St. Augustine as soldiers guarding the town are dismissed for the night and their replacements arrive to take over this important task. The commander of the new watch puts his men through a rigorous drill that ends with a resounding blast of musket fire that assures residents that 18th century St. Augustine is safe for the night. This traditional Spanish military changing of the guard takes place at 7 p.m. in front of St. Augustine’s Government House in the Plaza de la Constitucion. The event is free. UNREST ALONG THE RIVER: THE SEMINOLE AND RANGE WARS IN EARLY FLORIDA
Find out how battles over cattle and grazing lands influenced Florida’s history. Dr. Susan Parker will discuss how range wars affected Florida’s history during the Seminole Wars of the 19th century. This lecture takes place at 2 p.m. at the Island House located at Princess Place Preserve located at 1802 Princess Place Road, just south of the St. Johns County line in Flagler County. 5TH ANNUAL WORLD GOLF HALL OF FAME’S PUTTING CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING ROUNDS
Test your putting skills against other amateur golfers from Northeast Florida during the World Golf Hall of Fame Putting Championship at World Golf Village. This competition provides participants with a chance to win thousands of dollars in prizes and the ultimate title of 2008 World Golf Hall of Fame Putting Champion. The Putting Championship Final is August 2. St. Johns County residents with a valid ID are always admitted free of charge to Government House Museum, the Lightner Museum, the Colonial Spanish Quarter Museum, the Fountain of Youth, the Ximenez-Fatio House and the Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse. The daily tours and wine tastings at the San Sebastian Winery are free to everyone. Also, admission is free to everyone at the Authentic Old Drug Store, Fort Matanzas National Monument, and St. Photios Chapel.
