Governor’s New Years message

The Governor’s Press Secretary forwarded the following message to Historic City News for publication to our readers.

As we celebrate the New Year, we look forward to the year ahead and to the many opportunities it will bring. We also take this time to reflect on our blessings and anticipate the future with great optimism and hope.

We have accomplished many great things in 2008. The year has brought challenges, but I am confident that our state and her people possess a strong, resilient and unrelenting spirit. As we embark upon 2009, we will continue working to improve Florida’s schools, provide affordable housing and health care, protect our environment and boost our economy and workforce.

Florida is blessed to have an innovative workforce that contributes to the economic development of our state. In the coming year, we will work together to encourage economic growth so that all Floridians can invest money into the things that matter most – our families, businesses and friends.

Carole and I wish you all a Happy New Year and may God continue to bless the great State of Florida.
