Knife fight sends one to hospital
This morning at 8:52 a.m., SJSO Sgt. Charles Mulligan sent Historic City News the details concerning the multiple stabbing victim who was airlifted by Med Flight yesterday evening to Shands Hospital – Jacksonville.
A knife fight occurred on Puryear Street and was reported to 9-1-1 just before 7:30 last night. It resulted in one man being sent to the hospital — and one man to jail.
In the hospital this morning is 37 year old Ronald Taylor, Jr. and in custody is 43 year old Daniel Lee Williams; two men who were reported to be sharing the Puryear Street residence that became the scene of the knife fight. Deputy Sheriff Russell Martin, first to respond, arrived to find what he described as “large amounts of blood” that were immediately visible from the open door to the residence.
A neighbor was found inside the residence helping to wash some of the blood from the victim’s back while he sat upright in the bathroom tub. Deputy Martin reports that he also found the suspect, Daniel Lee Williams, inside the residence. Martin secured Williams and turned him over to SJSO Crimes Against Persons Unit Detective Kip Brantley for further questioning.
Sgt. David Tarbert assisted Deputy Martin at the scene along with Evidence Technicians from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
Williams was arrested at 8:30 p.m. and is charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon causing Bodily Harm and he is being held in the St. Johns County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond.
