A suspect or suspects are being sought in connection with the beating of a 49-year old St. Johns County man found early this morning. The victim was found on the ground by a passerby at 6:30 a.m. near the area of W. King St. and S. St. Johns Ave.
The 49 year old victim, Tommy Woodard, was treated by County Rescue Personnel at the scene for multiple injuries. Woodard was transported to Calvin Peete Park and then taken by air ambulance to Shands Jacksonville for further treatment.
There was no evidence of a disturbance where the victim was found so detectives believe that he may have been dropped off from a vehicle and that the altercation took place at a different location.
Violent Crimes Unit Detectives are continuing the investigation. Anyone with any information concerning the identity of the subject(s) involved in this investigation is asked to call the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at 824-8304.
